I've loved my Ergo when my babies were small, but I have tall kiddos and a high waist, so I have trouble with a front carry once they're bigger.  The waist strap digs into my stomach when I try to do a back carry.  I'll take suggestions as to how to fix that, but I'm also interested in suggestions for a SSC to lust after that might alleviate those

I really hoped I'd have found my perfect carrier by now but I'm not QUITE there. Daughter is 20 months and very up-down. She still enjoys being carried, but not always for long at a time unless she's sleepy. At some point in the last 15 months or so, a user posted here about a carrier she had that had panels you could unzip to reveal mesh. If I remember correctly it was in general similar to a Beco or Ergo, but had these panels to allow air flow. I plan to do a short walking holiday next month with my husband and my 19 month old. Our plan is to walk a length of the Cotswold Way in England, stopping at B&Bs and carrying our luggae with us. I have LOVED our Moby, but my girl is getting a little too big and wiggly for it to always be comfortable like it used to be. We have an Olives and Applesauce carrier, but honestly, I don't love it. Is there a SSC that has shorter straps than the Ergo?

I got the Ergo because I heard it's good for short people and the straps on mine are tightened as short as they can be and are still loose on my shoulders.

I'm specifically looking for something that DH (6 foot 2 and skinny) can wear DD (8 months) in for long walks and possibly even a hiking holiday. He's keen on our framed carrier but DD is NOT comfortable in it (it's a crotch dangler) so I'm hoping to convince him an SSC is better and sell on the framed carrier since we bought it second hand from ( Read more... )
